Hi LS-Riders,
from the beginning when I had the Savage, I always thought about making the sound of the bike deeper. I bought me a Silvertail and a Laser (Illegal) exhaust. Both of them just made the sound louder, but not deeper. Recently I installed the Supertrapp. I thought by now I had a deep sound. That is not really true. It was deeper than before, but due to wearing a helmet that covers my ears, I was only confronted with the lower frequencies. I bought me another helmet that leaves my ears uncovered and I was shocked by the high frequencies coming from the pipe.
I wanted to know what is the reason. I took off the whole exhaust assembly, startet the engine and listened to it some meters away while my father was pulling gas. Of cause it was very loud, but only with high frequency. Therefore I think it is impossible to make the bike sound deep. Now my greatest wish is to know more about acoustics. Why is the Savage such a screaming Girl? Is the compression too high? Are there constructional matters in the valve region that produce the high frequencies?
If anyone has ever built his own Pipe please tell me!
Bye, Dirk.
